Type: Ppa · Technology: Solar · Country: Guatemala · Announced: 2026-06-15

MPC Energy Solutions (MPCES) announced that its 66.1 MWp San Patricio solar photovoltaic plant in Jalapa, Guatemala, has entered the final testing phase ahead of commercial operation, with expected commercial operation date (COD) certification in July 2026. The project, initially announced as 65 MWp in February 2024 with an estimated annual generation of 141 GWh and a $42 million investment, was later revised to 66 MWp with 156 GWh annual output and a $48 million investment by September 2025. MPCES secured a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) with Comercializadora de Energía para el Desarrollo (CED), a subsidiary of Ingenio Magdalena, for the entire output of the plant. The company reported that energy generated during the testing phase and pre-COD period can be sold in the spot market, while additional capital of $1.5 million was injected to cover final costs, expected to be recovered through contractual price adjustments upon asset sale closure. The project represents MPC Energy Solutions' largest plant in its Guatemalan portfolio and one of the country's largest solar facilities upon completion.
