N.A.N. GreenMet and Belgium-based Silox Group established a 50:50 joint venture named N.A.N. Silox GreenMet to develop a lithium-ion battery recycling and critical minerals recovery platform in Andhra Pradesh, India. The venture will operate an industrial facility processing up to 40,000 tonnes per annum of shredded battery waste and 20,000 tonnes per annum of hydrometallurgical refining, targeting the recovery of lithium, cobalt, nickel, and manganese. Silox brings four decades of hydrometallurgical expertise and a proprietary process validated at pilot scale in India for battery-grade metal recovery, while N.A.N. GreenMet contributes industrial execution, capital access, and policy relationships. The project will be executed in two phases, with the facility located on land secured with government incentives in Andhra Pradesh. Beyond recycling, the JV will explore downstream applications including cathode active materials and second-life battery use for stationary energy storage systems.
