Nadara completes Big Fish, Italy's largest agrivoltaic plant with Amazon PPA

British independent power producer Nadara announced the completion of Big Fish, a 227 MW agrivoltaic plant in Sicily, Italy, featuring a 156 MW power purchase agreement with Amazon. The 400-hectare project spans 15 parcels with half the land dedicated to existing agricultural use, developed in partnership with the University of Catania's Department of Agriculture, Food and Environment. Solar panels are installed up to three meters high to allow crop cultivation beneath, while 14 irrigation wells were constructed or reactivated around the site perimeter. The host municipalities will receive at least 17.25 million euros in efficiency funding over the plant's lifetime for public building monitoring and electric vehicle acquisition. This project forms part of Amazon's broader Italian solar portfolio of 40 installations totaling 532 MW, supporting the company's 2040 net-zero target. Simultaneously completed adjacent to Big Fish, Nadara also finished Sardella, a 46 MW standalone photovoltaic plant, forming Italy's largest-ever solar complex by combining the two projects. The deal represents a material expansion of Nadara's Italian agrivoltaic presence and Amazon's corporate renewable procurement strategy in Southern Europe.
