Natura Resources and Quadrant Nuclear Industries formalize HALEU supply framework for molten salt reactor development
Type: Supply Agreement · Technology: Nuclear · Country: United States · Announced: 2026-06-15
Molten salt reactor developer Natura Resources and New York-based startup Quadrant Nuclear Industries formalized a long-term offtake framework agreement on June 15, 2026, to supply high-assay low-enriched uranium (HALEU) for Natura’s commercial reactor systems. The deal establishes a committed supply pathway for HALEU fuel, which is required for Natura’s molten salt reactor designs operating at commercial scale. Quadrant Nuclear Industries plans to produce up to 18 metric tons of HALEU annually via downblending at a reprocessing facility located at the Idaho National Laboratory. For Natura Resources, securing this fuel supply agreement reduces a core uncertainty in its commercialization timeline, signaling credibility to investors and industry partners. The framework agreement positions both companies within a developing U.S. advanced nuclear fuel supply chain ecosystem, where defined fuel arrangements are critical for attracting capital. The transaction reflects the U.S. government’s priority to accelerate domestic HALEU production, addressing a recognized bottleneck for advanced reactor deployment.
