Navitas Solar, a Surat-based PV module manufacturer, announced a INR 1,500 crore investment to establish a 3.6 GW solar cell manufacturing facility and a pilot wafer-ingot production line in Gujarat. The project, developed in phases with the first phase expected to be commissioned in 2027, will cover over 10 lakh sq. ft. of civil work. The company has secured technology tie-ups for the manufacturing line and appointed senior leaders to lead the new business vertical. The cell manufacturing facility will be highly automated and designed for next-generation solar technologies, with upgradeability to adapt to advanced cell architectures. Navitas Solar also plans to set up a pilot wafer and ingot manufacturing line in 2027 as part of its backward integration strategy, aiming to strengthen internal capabilities and support future localization requirements across the solar value chain.
