Nebius signs lease for high‑density AI capacity at Vantage’s CWL1 data centre in Newport, Wales
Type: Partnership · Technology: Data Center · Country: United Kingdom · Announced: 2026-08-13
Nebius has signed a lease agreement with Vantage Data Centers to obtain high‑density, Nvidia‑powered AI capacity at the CWL1 campus in Newport, Wales. The CWL1 site, operational since 2010, spans three buildings covering roughly 2 million sq ft (186 000 sqm) on a 46‑acre plot and uses closed‑loop water recirculation and free‑cooling chillers. The leased capacity will be based on Nvidia’s DSX AI factory reference design and will support AI training, inference, agentic AI and enterprise workloads. The deal supports Nebius’s plan to expand AI cloud services across the UK, complementing its £1.7 billion investment in four UK sites announced earlier in 2026. Vantage’s Newport campus provides the scale, connectivity and operational excellence required for the growing domestic compute demand, positioning South Wales as a hub for AI investment. No financial terms were disclosed, and the agreement was announced on 13 August 2026.
