Nokia was selected by Planters Broadband Cooperative on 2026-09-10 to build an AI-ready fiber network supporting BEAD-funded rural broadband expansion in southeast Georgia. The deployment will serve unconnected or underserved communities in Screven, Effingham, Jenkins, and Burke Counties and enable multi-gigabit broadband services and advanced in-home Wi‑Fi for residents and businesses. Nokia will supply its Lightspan MF-2 access platform supporting 10G, 25G and 50G speeds and the Altiplano Access Controller for AI-driven automation to reduce operational complexity. KGPCo is named as a partner and logistics/systems integrator to support deployment to municipal, electric coop and tribal customers across North America. The project is positioned to meet U.S. Build America, Buy America (BABA) compliance and BEAD requirements to accelerate construction and service delivery across southeast Georgia.
