Nordion Energi acquires E.ON Sverige's 50% stake in Kalmar Energi to form partnership with Kalmar Municipality

Nordion Energi finalized an agreement to acquire E.ON Sverige's 50% stake in Kalmar Energi, establishing a new partnership with Kalmar Municipality to jointly develop the company's infrastructure. The collaboration will focus on expanding electricity grids, district heating networks, and fiber services across the Kalmar region. Siljansvik will co-own the electricity-trading business alongside the municipality as part of the transaction. Nordion Energi, which already operates Falbygdens Energi and Dala Energi in partnership with other Swedish municipalities, aims to strengthen local energy infrastructure amid growing demands for electrification and digitalization. The Kalmar Energi Group currently serves approximately 24,000 electricity trading customers, 2,500 district heating customers, and 22,000 electricity grid customers. Nordion Energi's CEO Hans Kreisel emphasized the importance of local partnerships in future-proofing energy supply for competitive and sustainable communities.
