Norfund's Climate Investment Fund commits $100 million in equity to India’s AMPIN Energy Transition

The Climate Investment Fund, managed by Norfund, has agreed to invest up to $100 million in equity in India’s AMPIN Energy Transition. This investment will support approximately 2 GW of new solar, wind, and hybrid projects backed by battery storage, with deployment expected by 2028. The funding will also bolster AMPIN’s solar manufacturing activities, which currently include 1.3 GW for cells and 1.9 GW for modules. Norfund anticipates this investment will mobilize up to a further $700 million in private equity and debt, helping AMPIN achieve its target of 10 GWp installed capacity by 2030. The projects are estimated to avoid approximately 3.1 million tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent annually once operational.
