NOVONIX delivers synthetic graphite anode active material C-sample to Panasonic Energy for US battery supply chain development
Type: Supply Agreement · Technology: Storage · Country: United States · Announced: 2026-06-19
NOVONIX delivered a mass production qualification sample (C-sample) of its synthetic graphite anode active material (AAM) to Panasonic Energy, marking the first known synthetic graphite AAM C-sample produced in North America. The C-sample represents a critical step toward establishing a US-sourced battery anode supply chain for Panasonic’s lithium-ion cell manufacturing operations. NOVONIX’s internal testing indicates the material meets Panasonic’s specifications, though formal validation remains pending Panasonic’s assessment over the coming months. Mass production for Panasonic is scheduled to begin in the second half of 2027, contingent on successful completion of the qualification process. The agreement underscores efforts to reduce reliance on Chinese-dominated synthetic graphite production and strengthen domestic battery materials supply chain resilience.
