OCP and Envision sign battery storage supply agreement for 25 MW LFP system

OCP, the Moroccan phosphate group, has commissioned a 25 MW lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery storage system at its Benguerir mining site, with an investment of 170 million dirhams (approximately 16 million euros). The storage infrastructure, supplied by Envision, is designed to couple with the existing 67 MWc photovoltaic plant to store daytime solar power for industrial use during peak demand hours. The project, part of OCP's 13 billion dollar green investment plan from 2023 to 2027, aims to increase the effective utilization of solar energy and reduce peak-hour grid reliance. The equipment order was placed in the fourth quarter of 2025, securing favorable costs before anticipated global supply chain tightening.
