OMV and Masdar establish joint venture for 140 MW green hydrogen plant in Austria
OMV and Masdar signed a binding agreement to establish a joint venture for the financing, construction, and operation of a 140 MW green hydrogen plant in Bruck an der Leitha, Austria. The project, expected to commence operations by the end of 2027, will produce up to 23,000 tons of green hydrogen annually using renewable energy from wind, solar, and hydropower. The plant will supply green hydrogen to OMV's Schwechat refinery via a 22-kilometer pipeline, reducing carbon emissions by up to 150,000 tons per year. The project has received EUR 123 million in funding from Austria and a positive assessment from the European Hydrogen Bank.
