Type: Partnership · Technology: Solar, Storage · Country: Bulgaria · Capacity: 415 MW · Value: $348.48M · Announced: 2026-06-15

OMV Petrom, a Bucharest-headquartered integrated energy producer, and Enery have formed a 50-50 joint venture to develop the Gabare Solar Project in Bulgaria through Dunav Solar Plant OOD. The project includes a 415 MW solar photovoltaic plant paired with a 600 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS), representing a total investment of €300 million ($348.48 million), with €100 million ($116.17 million) allocated to the storage component. Located in the Byala Slatina region of Bulgaria, the project has secured all required permits and is ready to commence construction following the signing of the construction contract. First production is scheduled for 2028, with OMV Petrom already securing a power purchase agreement (PPA) to acquire 50% of the future solar park's output. The joint venture structure enables shared development risks and leverages the partners' complementary expertise in large-scale renewable energy projects.
