OMV Petrom awarded Simtel Team an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract for a 20 MW / 40 MWh battery energy storage system to be installed alongside the Ișalnița solar farm in Dolj County, Romania. Construction is expected to be completed within approximately seven months of the contract signing. The battery storage will integrate with OMV Petrom's 89 MWp Ișalnița solar project, which is under construction and expected to generate approximately 130 GWh of electricity annually. This marks OMV Petrom's first wholly owned large-scale solar development, strengthening their power portfolio and contributing to the integration of renewable energy generation. The company is also developing additional battery projects in Romania and Bulgaria, including the Gabare project in Bulgaria with approximately 600 MWh of storage capacity.
