OMV Petrom completes installation of 384 fast-charging points across Slovakia, Hungary, and Romania with EU co-financing

Type: Development · Technology: Ev Charging · Country: Slovakia, Hungary, Romania · Announced: 2026-07-08

Romanian energy company OMV Petrom completed the installation of 384 fast-charging points at 92 locations across Slovakia, Hungary, and Romania as part of a major EU-funded infrastructure project. Approximately 25% of the total investment was covered by EU grants, with the remaining 75% financed by OMV Petrom. The fast-charging network targets key transport corridors in Central Europe, supporting cross-border EV travel and reducing charging deserts in the region. The project aligns with the EU's Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Regulation (AFIR), which mandates minimum charging infrastructure density across member states. OMV Petrom, a subsidiary of Austria-based OMV Group, executed the project under its broader decarbonization strategy to expand clean mobility solutions in Eastern Europe.
