OnPath Energy secures supply and installation agreement for record-breaking 80-metre turbine blades at Mill Rig Wind Farm

Type: Supply Agreement · Technology: Onshore Wind · Country: United Kingdom · Capacity: 33.4 MW · Announced: 2026-05-06

OnPath Energy finalized a supply and installation agreement with Nordex UK & Ireland for six Nordex N163/5.X turbines, each featuring 80-metre blades—the longest ever installed at a UK onshore wind farm—for its 33.4MW Mill Rig Wind Farm in South Lanarkshire. The turbines, with tip heights of 199.5 meters, will generate enough renewable electricity to power over 45,000 homes annually and displace 27,000 tonnes of CO2 each year, representing a 33% energy yield increase compared to larger turbines at nearby Kype Muir Extension. The project, supported by contractors RJ McLeod and McFadyen, is expected to be operational by summer 2026 and will create around 300 jobs with £91 million in local contract value within 60km of the site. OnPath Energy also secured a £5 million community benefit fund for South Lanarkshire, aligning with its broader portfolio of 12 UK wind farms and Scotland’s 2030 target of 20GW onshore wind capacity. Natural Power provided Owner’s Engineer services under CDM regulations, overseeing safety coordination and construction management.
