OranjeWind and Purus Power sign five-year charter agreement for offshore wind maintenance vessel

OranjeWind, a joint venture between RWE and TotalEnergies, signed a five-year charter agreement with Purus for the construction and service operation vessel (CSOV) Purus Power to support maintenance activities at the OranjeWind offshore wind farm. The 88-meter-long vessel, equipped with diesel-electric and battery-hybrid propulsion, features accommodation, office space, and a walk-to-work system for safe technician transfers to wind turbines. The OranjeWind project, located 53 kilometers off the coast of IJmuiden, will deploy 53 Vestas 15 MW offshore wind turbines to generate up to 795 MW of green electricity, sufficient for over 1 million Dutch households, with full commissioning expected in early 2028. The charter includes an option for extension and positions Purus Power as a purpose-built vessel for extended offshore stays. Bart van der Wielen, General Manager O&M of OranjeWind, highlighted the partnership's role in strengthening maintenance capability and long-term operational reliability.
