Orlen New Power acquires 216MW hybrid solar-wind project in Poland from ONDE and Neo Energy Group

Polish fossil fuel company Orlen New Power, the onshore renewable energy arm of Orlen, acquired the 216MW hybrid solar-plus-wind Kazimierz Biskupi project in central Poland from developers ONDE and Neo Energy Group. The project combines a 180MW solar PV component with a 36MW wind farm, leveraging Poland’s cable pooling model to share grid interconnection infrastructure for more efficient capacity utilization. Construction is scheduled to begin in Q3 2026, with commercial operation expected in early 2028. The acquisition aligns with Orlen’s strategy to expand its renewable energy portfolio amid Poland’s rapid solar growth, where solar PV met 24% of national electricity demand in June 2026 following over 20GW of new capacity additions between 2020 and 2025. Tadeusz Zborowski, chief financial officer at Orlen New Power, highlighted the project’s scale and development readiness as key value drivers, emphasizing improved grid infrastructure utilization through integrated solar and wind generation.
