European cloud operator OVHcloud launched its first Asia Pacific Local Zone in Auckland, New Zealand, in partnership with local operator Datacentre220. The Local Zone provides compute, block storage, and networking services with ultra-low latency for latency-sensitive workloads such as real-time analytics, e-commerce, CDNs, and cloud gaming. OVHcloud's Local Zones are designed to ensure local data residency compliance and digital sovereignty for regional customers expanding in New Zealand. The Auckland facility is hosted within Datacentre220's sole data center at 220 Queen Street in central Auckland, which already serves customers including Cloudflare, Megaport, Chorus, and One NZ. Terry Maiolo, VP and general manager Asia Pacific for OVHcloud, emphasized the partnership's role in reinforcing digital sovereignty and secure service delivery for New Zealand businesses.
