Type: Ppa · Technology: Hybrid · Country: Australia · Announced: 2026-07-22

Pacific Energy signed a power purchase agreement with Horizon Power to supply a 409 kW solar array and 2.8 MWh battery storage for the town of Menzies in Western Australia. The hybrid renewable system will be built about 280 m south of the existing diesel power station and is designed to meet up to 80 % of the community’s electricity demand by 2027. Construction is slated to begin later in 2026 with the first power scheduled for delivery in 2027, replacing ageing diesel generation. The deal supports Horizon Power’s goal of a 100 % renewable grid by 2030 and demonstrates the economic advantage of solar‑battery solutions in remote locations. No financial terms were disclosed, and the agreement was announced on 22 July 2026.
