Pathfinder Clean Energy (PACE) reached final investment decision (FID) on its Tophams solar and battery storage project near Baldock in Hertfordshire, UK, marking a key milestone in the company’s UK construction pipeline. The co-located project combines 55 MWp of solar photovoltaic capacity with a 22.6 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS), sharing a single grid connection to optimize infrastructure utilization. Construction is scheduled to commence in late 2026, with commercial operation expected in the second half of 2027, positioning the project to deliver clean energy under a 20-year Contract for Difference (CfD) secured through the UK Government’s AR7a allocation round. PACE will deliver the project using its in-house engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) model, leveraging internal teams to ensure timely execution alongside its existing Three Bridges and Attleborough Road projects in Hertfordshire and East Anglia.
