Perenco acquires CalEnergy Resources' Southern North Sea gas assets and infrastructure
Type: Acquisition · Technology: Gas · Country: United Kingdom · Announced: 2026-04-08
Perenco completed the acquisition of CalEnergy Resources' Southern North Sea gas assets in the U.K., including the purchase of CalEnergy North Sea Limited and CalEnergy Infrastructure Limited, which were rebranded as Perenco SNS Limited and Perenco UK Infrastructure Limited. The transaction granted Perenco a 50% participating interest and operatorship of the Blythe and Elgood licences within the Southern North Sea gas basin. These assets are directly linked to Perenco’s existing infrastructure, particularly the Bacton terminal on the Norfolk coast, where gas production from the acquired fields will be processed. Jo White, UK SNS General Manager at Perenco, stated the company’s immediate focus would be on maintaining safe and efficient operations while exploring medium-term opportunities to enhance production and reduce unit operating costs. The deal strengthens Perenco’s position in the U.K. gas sector, where it already operates multiple mature fields and associated infrastructure.
