Type: Acquisition · Technology: Solar · Country: Brazil · Announced: 2026-10-01

Placas do Brasil and Engie Brasil Energia submitted a concentration act to the Brazilian Economic Defense Administration (CADE) to acquire a 40% stake in the Assú Sol solar complex in Rio Grande do Norte. The transaction involves seven solar plants—Assú Sol 4, 6, 10, 11, 13, 14, and 15—with a total installed capacity of 340.5 MW. The complex, developed by Engie with an initial investment of approximately R$ 3.3 billion, became the largest solar project in Engie's global portfolio upon reaching 100% commercial operation in February 2026. The deal aims to secure energy for Placas do Brasil's industrial consumption, projected to save R$ 10 million annually, equivalent to 16.7% of its annual energy budget. US Capital advised on the deal's origination, structuring, and commercial negotiations.
