PPL Corporation and Blackstone Infrastructure Partners established Invitium Energy, a joint venture to develop large-scale power generation infrastructure to meet surging data center energy demands. The partnership has identified strategic land sites capable of supporting 8-14GW of new generation capacity, with over 5GW of new combined-cycle gas turbine (CCGT) generation already accepted in the PJM Interconnection queue. Additionally, Invitium Energy has secured more than 5GW of reservation agreements for CCGT turbines. PPL's CEO Vince Sorgi noted that while the joint venture is advancing, earnings contributions are not expected to be material through 2030. The initiative targets Pennsylvania and Kentucky markets where data center demand is rapidly growing.
