PPL Corp announced an unregulated joint venture with Blackstone Infrastructure to construct power generation equipment specifically for data centers. The partnership aims to address the growing energy demands of hyperscale data center operators, with the first projects expected to be announced later in 2026. Vincent Sorgi, PPL's president and CEO, highlighted that the joint venture is executing multiple gas turbine reservation agreements and has submitted requests for several generation projects into PJM's interconnection queue. The collaboration could participate in PJM Interconnection's planned reliability backstop auction for large loads, pending regulatory approval and cost allocation terms. PPL serves over 1.4 million customers in Pennsylvania and operates subsidiaries in Louisville and Kentucky.
