Principality of Asturias invests €1.226bn in Digital Valley Asturias data center project

The Principality of Asturias announced a €1.226 billion ($1.4bn) investment in the Digital Valley Asturias data center project, targeting a 120 MW computing capacity. The campus will includes ten data‑center modules, an electrical sub‑station and a photovoltaic installation of 350 solar panels across 154,585 sqm in Salas. Construction is slated to begin in the second half of 2027 and finish by 2030, employing up to 3,000 workers during the build phase. The investment underscores Asturias' strategy to position the region as a digital‑infrastructure hub and create roughly 1,080 jobs, including 120 direct operational roles. Digital Valley, supported by consulting firm Sales For You Consulting, will develop and operate the facility, while the regional government provides the capital backing.
