Type: Acquisition · Technology: Gas · Country: Brazil · Announced: 2026-06-12
Prumo Logística completed the acquisition of a 22.11% stake in the GNA I gas-fired power plant from Siemens, expanding its portfolio in Brazil's energy sector. The transaction centers on a 1,338.3 MW combined-cycle natural gas power plant located at the Porto do Açu complex in Rio de Janeiro, alongside a liquefied natural gas (LNG) regasification terminal. GNA I operates as part of a broader energy infrastructure at Porto do Açu, which will reach 3 GW of total capacity upon the upcoming commissioning of the GNA II unit. The acquisition aligns with Prumo Logística's strategy to consolidate its position in Brazil's energy transition and gas-fired power generation. Siemens, which previously held the minority stake, exits the project as part of its portfolio optimization in the region. No financial terms were disclosed for the transaction.
