Qair secures €37.9 million financing for hybrid solar and battery projects in Chad

Qair has secured the first disbursement of a €37.9 million financing package for two hybrid solar and battery storage projects in Gassi and Lamadji, Chad, with a combined solar capacity of 30 MWp and battery storage of 8 MWh. The financing is provided by the African Development Bank (AfDB), Proparco, the Sustainable Energy Fund for Africa (SEFA), and the Agence Française de Développement, supported by a partial risk guarantee from the African Development Fund and the Green Climate Fund. The projects benefit from a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with the national electricity utility Tchadelec, with Coris Bank acting as the onshore account bank and security agent, and BNY serving as the offshore account bank and intercreditor agent. This transaction reinforces Qair's portfolio in Africa and demonstrates strong collaboration between the developer and development finance institutions.
