Global investment giant Quinbrook Infrastructure Partners has secured $469 million (USD 327 million) in debt finance for Stage 3 of its Supernode battery project in Southeast Queensland. This financing will increase the total capacity of the energy storage facility to 780 MW / 3,074 MWh upon completion in 2027. The financing was provided by a syndicate of five lenders, including Commonwealth Bank of Australia, MUFG, Deutsche Bank, DNB, and Rabobank. Stage 3, with a capacity of 260 MW / 1,216 MWh, is supported by a 15-year offtake agreement with Queensland government-owned energy company Stanwell. This deal underscores confidence in the Supernode project and the long-term outlook for battery storage in Australia.
