Quintana Roo government partners with Serfimex Capital to finance 50 solar and storage projects with MXN 1,000 million

Type: Financing · Technology: Solar · Country: Mexico · Value: $1000M · Announced: 2026-07-21

The Secretariat of Ecology and Environment (SEMA) of Quintana Roo signed a financing agreement with Serfimex Capital on 2026-07-21 to provide up to MXN 1,000 million for 50 distributed solar and battery storage projects. The financing targets photovoltaic installations with investments starting at MXN 1 million and a maximum capacity of 0.7 MW per project, as well as battery energy storage systems with no upper financing limit. Credit terms include maturities of up to 72 months, optional zero‑down payments, grace periods for principal, and either fixed or variable interest rates. The agreement also incorporates a technical and financial training program and a profitability modeling platform for developers, addressing financing barriers identified by the state. Serfimex Capital, which has previously financed more than 150 clean‑energy projects and backed investments of roughly MXN 1,300 million, will leverage its network of over 800 integrators across Mexico to support the new projects. The deal aligns with Quintana Roo’s renewable energy plan, which recorded a rise in distributed generation capacity from 376 kW in 2017 to 71.66 MW by early 2024, supporting the state’s growing tourism, industrial, and urban electricity demand.
