RANsemi partners with OCUDU and TechPhosis for open RAN integration in US defense sector
Type: Partnership · Technology: Telecom · Country: United States · Announced: 2026-07-03
RANsemi, a UK-based semiconductor company spun off from China's Picocom in late 2023 to avoid geopolitical restrictions, partnered with OCUDU and TechPhosis to integrate its Layer 1 RAN technology with OCUDU's open-source Layer 2 and 3 software. OCUDU, backed by the US Department of Defense and overseen by the Linux Foundation, aims to modernize military communications by replacing proprietary RAN technologies from vendors like Ericsson and Nokia with open-source alternatives. The integration uses a standardized FAPI interface, with TechPhosis serving as the systems integrator. This collaboration positions RANsemi to access the US defense market, which has shown increasing interest in sovereign technology providers amid rising military expenditures.
