Recurrent Energy, a subsidiary of Canadian Solar, announced the commercial launch of the 150 MWac Carwarp Energy Park solar facility near Mildura in Victoria, Australia, ahead of schedule. The project, equipped with approximately 243,000 Canadian Solar modules, is expected to generate 405 GWh of electricity annually, powering around 65,000 Australian households and avoiding 227,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions each year. Microsoft has secured a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) for the project's output, integrating clean energy into its operations. The Carwarp Energy Park is connected to Australia’s National Electricity Market via Victoria’s 220 kV transmission network, with planning and grid approvals already secured for the addition of a 120 MW battery energy storage system. During construction, the project supported approximately 300 jobs and established a community benefit fund in partnership with Microsoft, administered by Groundswell Giving and the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal to support climate and environmental initiatives, including First Nations-led projects.
