Redtail Renewables signs partnership with Greenwood County to develop LFG-to-RNG facility

Redtail Renewables signed long-term agreements with Greenwood County and Greenwood County Council to invest in and operate the county landfill’s gas collection system and to develop a landfill gas (LFG) capture and upgrading facility producing 300,000 MMBtu of renewable natural gas (RNG) per year. The planned Greenwood County LFG-to-RNG facility is designed to process 1,250 scfm of landfill gas and will use biomethane upgrading technology to deliver pipeline-quality RNG for low-carbon transport fuel. Redtail intends to begin construction by the end of 2026 and bring the facility into full RNG operations by the end of 2028, while the Greenwood County landfill is estimated to have over 70 years of remaining operating life to supply LFG. The deal names Vision RNG as a collaborator and includes Redtail assuming responsibility for investing in and operating the landfill gas collection infrastructure on county property. The agreement creates a long-term offtake/development partnership tying Redtail Renewables to Greenwood County landfill assets and municipal waste-to-energy infrastructure, with Claus Nussgruber (CEO at Redtail Renewables) publicly commenting on project milestones and timelines.
