Regional Rail announced the acquisition of Massachusetts Central Railroad, a 28‑mile short‑line freight railroad in Massachusetts, along with its subsidiary Wildwood Reload. The acquired network provides freight‑hauling, car‑storage and transloading services to customers in waste, chemicals, plastics and lumber sectors. The transaction expands Regional Rail’s footprint to ten U.S. states and two Canadian provinces, enhancing its North American rail service portfolio. Financial terms were not disclosed, and the deal was executed under the ownership of 3i Group, which backs Regional Rail. No advisors or legal counsel were named in the announcement.
