Repsol Petróleo is advancing the Autoconsumo Puertollano project in Ciudad Real, Spain, which includes the construction of a 48.02 MW solar photovoltaic plant and a 4 MW battery energy storage system (BESS) with 16,256 kWh capacity. The hybrid system will integrate with Repsol’s existing 80.5 MW cogeneration thermoelectric plant at the Puertollano industrial complex. The solar plant will includes 88,972 modules of 540 Wp each, covering 23.64 hectares of a 93.73-hectare fenced area, while the BESS will consist of eight LFP battery containers installed in a 0.29-hectare facility. The project is currently undergoing simplified environmental assessment and aligns with Repsol’s broader industrial transformation strategy in Puertollano. A 30 kV underground line of 3,231.5 meters will connect the solar and storage systems to the new Autoconsumo Puertollano 30/132 kV substation, which features two voltage levels and spans 0.41 hectares. From there, a 132 kV double-circuit overhead evacuation line of 615 meters will link to Repsol Química’s ST Parque Norte 132/6.3 kV substation, with an additional 228-meter single-circuit branch extending to Repsol Petróleo’s ST Parque Norte 132/6.3 kV substation.
