RWE signs virtual PPA with Oracle for 433 MW from Panther Creek wind farms in Texas

Type: Ppa · Technology: Onshore Wind · Country: United States · Capacity: 433 MW · Announced: 2026-09-18

RWE has signed a virtual power purchase agreement with Oracle covering 433 MW of capacity from its existing Panther Creek I, II, and III wind farms in West Texas. The projects are located in Sterling, Howard, and Glasscock counties and their output supplies the Texas grid while supporting Oracle's data centre operations. The vPPA forms part of a wider portfolio of power investments announced by Oracle, collectively representing more than 1.7 GW of generation capacity supporting the Texas grid. Panther Creek I and II were repowered in Q3 2019, followed by Panther Creek III in 2021. The agreement supports Oracle's target to match all electricity consumed by its AI data centres with carbon-free electricity by 2035. The projects are expected to generate more than $70 million in property tax revenues over their lifetimes for the three host counties.
