Saipem and Garbo to develop industrial-scale PET and polyester chemical recycling plant in Europe

Saipem and Garbo are partnering on the ReNova ChemPET project, an industrial initiative to develop one of Europe’s first industrial-scale chemical recycling plants for PET and polyester. The project, funded by the European Union’s Innovation Fund, aims to transform complex plastic and textile waste into high-purity monomer using ChemPET technology. Saipem will serve as the Project Coordinator and EPC Contractor, while Garbo will be the technology provider and plant operator. The plant's construction is scheduled for 2028-2029, with operations starting from 2029, contributing to a circular, zero-emissions economy by recovering materials currently destined for incineration or landfill.
