Saipem awarded SURF package contract for GranMorgu offshore oil project in Suriname
Type: Supply Agreement · Technology: Oil Gas · Country: Suriname · Announced: 2026-06-22
Saipem secured a supply agreement worth an undisclosed amount to deliver the Subsea Umbilicals, Risers and Flowlines (SURF) package for the GranMorgu offshore oil project in Suriname. The GranMorgu project, operated by TotalEnergies (40%), APA Corporation (40%) and Staatsolie (20%), is located in Block 58 about 150 km off the Surinamese coast and targets water depths from 100 m to 1,100 m. Saipem will deploy S‑Lay and J‑Lay vessels to install pipelines and has established a 30,000‑40,000 m² logistics hub at Jules Sedney Harbour to handle equipment and a DORDT marine base for heavy subsea structures. The contract, awarded in 2024, positions Saipem as the primary EPC contractor for Suriname’s first large‑scale offshore oil development slated to start production in 2028. By leveraging local docks and supply chains, the deal injects material value into the Surinamese economy and reinforces Saipem’s long‑term presence in the region.
