Samsung Electronics Vietnam Thai Nguyen signs direct power purchase agreement with TTC Duc Hue–Long An Power for 49 MW solar plant
Type: Ppa · Technology: Solar · Country: Vietnam · Capacity: 49 MW · Announced: 2026-06-03
Samsung Electronics Vietnam Thai Nguyen (SVET) has entered into Vietnam's first grid-connected direct power purchase agreement (DPPA) with TTC Duc Hue–Long An Power. Under the agreement, SVET's smartphone factory in Yen Binh Industrial Park will receive approximately 70 GWh of solar electricity annually from the 49 MW Duc Hue 2 solar power plant in Tây Ninh province. This amount is equivalent to the annual power consumption of roughly 17,000 Vietnamese households. The DPPA marks a pivotal moment for Vietnam's energy transition, enabling multinational corporations to meet their RE100 commitments and enhancing the country's attractiveness for green foreign direct investment. The legal framework for DPPAs in Vietnam was updated in March 2025, relaxing eligibility conditions and providing detailed guidance for such contracts.
