Scatec to acquire 77 MW Urleasca onshore wind project in Romania from OX2
Type: Acquisition · Technology: Onshore Wind · Country: Romania · Capacity: 77 MW · Value: EUR 168M · Announced: 2026-08-03
Scatec has signed an agreement to acquire the 77 MW Urleasca onshore wind project in Brăila County, Romania, from OX2 for an estimated total project cost of €168 million. The project is supported by a Contract-for-Difference (CfD) covering approximately 43 MW of capacity at an average strike price of €71.3/MWh, with the remaining generation sold into the Romanian wholesale power market. OX2 will continue to manage the project through to commissioning under a Construction and Asset Transfer Agreement (CATA), targeting financial close in Q3 2026 and commercial operation in H2 2028. This acquisition marks Scatec’s entry into European onshore wind, complementing its existing 190 MW Dobrun and Sadova solar projects under construction in Romania. The project is expected to be financed through a combination of non-recourse debt and equity with approximately 60% leverage, and Scatec will provide asset management and operations and maintenance services post-commissioning.
