SECI (Solar Energy Corporation of India) and MahaGenco Renewable Energy Limited (MahaGenco REL) signed a memorandum of understanding to jointly develop a 5 GW renewable energy pipeline across India, with a focus on Maharashtra. The collaboration will prioritize Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy solutions, Battery Storage Systems, and Green Hydrogen projects to enhance grid stability and support India’s clean energy transition. The partnership aligns with India’s target of achieving 500 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030, with Maharashtra emerging as a key state for deployment. SECI, India’s nodal agency for renewable energy procurement, will leverage its expertise in tendering and project execution, while MahaGenco REL, a subsidiary of Maharashtra State Power Generation Company Limited, will contribute local market knowledge and infrastructure. The agreement was formalized on June 20, 2026, marking a material step toward accelerating India’s decarbonization efforts through large-scale renewable integration.
