Type: Partnership · Technology: Solar · Country: Singapore, Malaysia · Capacity: 300 MW · Announced: 2026-08-07

Sembcorp announced a partnership with KPRJ Environment and Qua Energy to develop a 300 MW renewable power import project linking Peninsular Malaysia to Singapore. The project will be anchored by a 2.2 GWp floating solar PV installation at the Linggiu Reservoir in Johor, Malaysia, complemented by up to 4.3 GWh of battery storage. Operations are slated to begin in 2029, using both existing and future subsea interconnection infrastructure to enable cross‑border electricity flows. The collaboration targets the growing electricity demand of Singapore's data centres and AI‑related industries while enhancing regional energy security and decarbonisation. Sembcorp and its partners will now advance development studies and pursue remaining regulatory approvals in both countries.
