Sener delivers centrifugal pellet accelerator to Fusion for Energy for JT-60SA fusion reactor project

Sener completed and delivered a centrifugal pellet accelerator for hydrogen to Fusion for Energy (F4E) for integration into the JT-60SA fusion reactor in Japan. The five-meter-long vacuum system accelerates frozen hydrogen pellets to 600 m/s at up to 80 Hz, incorporating high-precision mechanical subsystems and optical diagnostics for real-time monitoring. The accelerator was developed under a contract awarded by F4E as part of Europe’s contribution to the JT-60SA project, a collaboration between Europe and Japan to advance fusion energy research. The system will be tested at the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics in Germany before deployment. Sener emphasized the project’s strategic value, noting its potential applications beyond fusion, including high-precision systems for the aerospace sector.
