Shell sells Solenergi Power Private (including Sprng Energy) to Aditya Birla Renewables for $1.8bn

Shell agreed to sell 100% of Solenergi Power Private, which includes the Sprng Energy group, to Aditya Birla Renewables Limited for $1.8bn. Sprng Energy supplies solar and wind power to Indian electricity distribution companies and holds a portfolio of 5.0 GWp, with 3.3 GWp already operating and 1.7 GWp under contract. The transaction is slated to close by the end of 2026, subject to regulatory approval and standard closing conditions. Shell said the sale reflects its ongoing strategy to reshape its power business portfolio and recycle capital following its Capital Markets Day 2025. Employees of Sprng Energy will remain with the new owner to ensure operational continuity.
