Siemens Energy will supply its SGT-8000H gas turbines for the 932MW combined-cycle Greenlight Electricity Centre in Alberta, Canada, being constructed by Pembina Pipeline Corporation, Morgan Stanley Infrastructure Partners, and Kineticor Asset Management to power a data center representing roughly eight percent of the province's current system-wide electricity demand. This marks the second project between Siemens Energy and Kineticor following the 2024 Cascade project, and represents the largest grid-connected, collocated power solution of its kind in Canada. The combined-cycle technology captures exhaust heat to produce steam driving a second turbine, achieving efficiency levels exceeding 60 percent. Siemens Energy's H-class platforms are designed with fuel flexibility in mind, with the ability to transition toward higher proportions of hydrogen over time. The project demonstrates how dedicated generation can be built alongside new digital infrastructure to meet emerging AI-driven demand in Alberta.
