Type: Supply Agreement · Technology: Storage · Country: Italy · Capacity: 13.75 MW · Announced: 2026-07-14

SMA Italia completed the supply of five MVPS‑4400 medium‑voltage power stations equipped with Sunny Central Storage UP‑XT inverters and Power Plant Manager control systems for Recurrent Energy’s battery energy storage system in Montalto, Viterbo. The BESS has a nominal power of 13.75 MW and stores 43 MWh, and it is co‑located with the 35 MWp Montalto la Viola photovoltaic plant, sharing the same grid connection point. The equipment was delivered and commissioned in 2025, with the full system becoming operational in early 2026, enhancing renewable energy integration in the region. The deal underscores Recurrent Energy’s strategy to pair solar generation with storage to improve grid stability and meet stringent A79 network constraints. SMA Italia, a subsidiary of SMA Solar Technology, provided the hardware under a supply agreement, leveraging its expertise in medium‑voltage solutions for hybrid renewable projects.
