SOCAR, TotalEnergies, ADNOC International, and Turkey's BOTAS signed a natural gas sales and purchase agreement for gas produced from Azerbaijan's Absheron field. The agreement was finalized during Baku Energy Week, with key executives from each company—including SOCAR President Rovshan Najaf and BOTAS Chairman Abdulvahit Fidan—formally endorsing the deal. The Absheron field, one of Azerbaijan's largest gas-condensate fields, is set to enter its second development phase, with first gas production expected in 2029 and annual output exceeding 4 billion cubic meters (bcm). Approximately half of the production will be supplied to the Turkish market under the agreement, enhancing regional energy security and Azerbaijan's export potential.
