Solex Energy signed a memorandum of understanding with the Government of Gujarat to invest INR 4,000 crore in a 5 GW solar cell manufacturing facility and a 10 GW battery energy storage system (BESS) factory. The solar cell facility will be developed in two phases, with 2 GW in Phase I and 3 GW in Phase II, while the BESS factory will have a total capacity of 10 GW. Headquartered in Surat, Gujarat, Solex Energy already operates a 4 GW PV module production facility in Tadkeshwar, Gujarat, using a fully automated, Industry 4.0-enabled manufacturing process. The investment aligns with Gujarat's push to become a hub for renewable energy manufacturing and energy storage solutions. The project is expected to create material employment opportunities and boost local industrial capabilities in the state.
