Sonnedix secures $1.3 billion refinancing for Chilean renewables portfolio

Type: Financing · Technology: Hybrid · Country: Chile · Value: $1.3B · Announced: 2026-09-10

Sonnedix completed a $1.3 billion refinancing deal covering 1 GW of operational solar and wind capacity in Chile, alongside 117 MW of battery energy storage projects under construction. The transaction was structured by joint lead arrangers BNP Paribas, Bank of America, Crédit Agricole CIB, and Santander, with additional participation from BBVA, Goldman Sachs, and MUFG. The refinanced portfolio generates revenue through investment-grade private power purchase agreements and regulated contracts, supporting Sonnedix's broader renewable energy, storage, and hybrid project development in Chile. This milestone strengthens Sonnedix's financial base, allowing the company to focus resources on new storage and hybrid projects while building momentum in the Chilean market. The deal involved extensive legal advisory from White & Case and Morales & Besa on New York and Chilean law, alongside financial and technical advisers EY and Enertis respectively.
