South Korean telco Dreamline and government agencies partner to build cable landing station for 8,900km AUG East subsea cable in Saemangeum

South Korean telco Dreamline signed a partnership agreement with the Saemangeum Development Authority and multiple government agencies to construct a cable landing station for the 8,900km AUG East subsea cable in Saemangeum, a reclaimed wetland on South Korea’s west coast in the Yellow Sea. The cable landing station will be built within the Saemangeum National Industrial Complex, a planned industrial hub on reclaimed land. Construction is scheduled to commence in January 2027, with the project targeting completion by Q3 2029. The AUG East subsea cable, part of the Asia United Gateway network, will include branching lines connecting Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Taiwan. The consortium behind the project includes US-based Amazon Web Services and Microsoft; Japan’s Arteria Networks; Taiwan’s Chunghwa Telecom; the Philippines’ Globe Telecom; Malaysia’s Telekom Malaysia; and Brunei’s Unified National Networks alongside Dreamline.
